Fast is useless on the 3rd line. Loved the physical play and the guys standing up for each other though.

Overall, game was as expected. Devils & Rangers always a physical and demanding game regardless of Standings. Devils convert on a serious bounce off MAC's missed shot. At least we get a point. Now.. time to spoil the Islanders playoff hopes

Certain players need to save their seasons now, Stepan obviously but Ziba outside of a couple of OT goals isn't producing, had a money wrap around chance last night where he just needed to get it off the ice, Lindberg is out playing them per 60 and it's not close, Kreider I don't think will reach 30 since he's bone dry now, Hayes and Miller have dried up, better not be another same old season end

Also last night's game pretty much renders advanced metrics useless.

I was surprised how good competiton rose thru out the game
its what we needed to remind us its hockey & PO style is gonna be needed
My pts as i ssaw or see them
MAC? if he plays like this we aint going to far .....NOW they switched him to Right
w/Staal playing left ? didn t make a big diff ,hes just solid gonna make a few TO's and thats what has to stop..BUT his O is shrinking not growing
Shey on the otherhand is growing up right in front of us ..size speed head
He may turn out to be the top pair guy maybe with Mac & be lead dog ...
Mac can play back a little more & fill in where Shey dosnt .....

3rd & 4th line switch : I know" kids are alright "but i dont like 3rd line at all...

Soo wave the wand & Hayes Buchny Vesey : hayes can feed the kids and they can buzz around palying both ways and bring ing sum pressure with a passer like Hayes

Oscar Fast Grabner 4th line will explode without Hayes & his puck control
this could be our best 4th line for PO's....

Subs for tonite (ONly after loss) Glass for sure & Stumpner who sits
anyone nicked up from game on wings & Stumpner for Clendening

Jan, I have to inquire - you are not happy with 29 goals for in 12 games (2.42/gm), but you're ok with giving up 32 (2.67/gm)?
I agree, we want to score north of 2.5 per game, but this team has made an identity out of being stingy on what they allow the opposition. I am more alarmed by giving up that many. And I think you alluded to a big part of that in your piece about the PK. What is it now, a power-play goal against in 7 straight games? For my money, special teams are where the focus needs to be down the stretch.
And playoff success or not, I'd say it's time to grab the torches and pitchforks and head over to Arniel's house! That is a change that needs to happen.

He isn't wrong about Fast moving up though. I have defended Fast from criticism but he has no business on the 3rd line when you have either Vesey or Buch that can move up. Never mind the fact Fast was playing very good with Lindberg on the 4th line.

I have no problem with AV mixing stuff up right now, but if Fast is on that line starting the playoffs, thats just (frank)ing dumb.

All fair, but no player in the league is going to say to their coach, "You know coach, I've been thinking about it and I don't want more ice time."

Could be that AV is going to move one of Vesey or Buch back into the top 9 and wants to get the other one used to playing on the 4th line, which would actually not be a bad idea at all.

Anyone think Staal's switch to the right side has to do 100% with his vision?
